A series of earthquakes up to 5.2 magnitude occurred in New Zealand

A series of earthquakes occurred on Sunday in New Zealand, according to Xinhua news agency, citing the geological service of the country.

The first quake of magnitude 3.6 was recorded in 15 kilometers from Methven (Methven), located 90 kilometers from the city of Christchurch in the South Island. In the Christchurch earthquakes of magnitude 4.6 was felt on Sunday night.

Then there was another earthquake, whose magnitude was 5.2 — 25 kilometers from the city of Waverly Place (Waverley) in the north. The epicenter was located at a depth of 138 kilometers. Also aftershocks of magnitude 3.4 to 3.6 were felt on Sunday in Tolaga Bay (Tolaga Bay) to the east of the North Island.
