Belarus under the scrutiny of the U.S. Commission on Religious Freedom

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (US Commission on International Religious Freedom, USCIRF) has placed Belarus in its "list of scrutiny" (watch list), along with 10 other countries in which the government violate the religious freedom of citizens or allow such violations by others.

In this list are located near the Belarus Afghanistan, Cuba, India, Indonesia, Laos, Russia, Somalia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Venesuela.

The countries in which there are particularly severe violations of religious freedom, said the commission calls the "countries of particular concern" (countries of particular concern).

In This year, this list included 14 countries: Burma, China, North Korea, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Egipet.
