Endometriosis is called benign overgrowth of the endometrium (uterine lining) in various organs. The endometrium (The mucous membrane lining the uterus) rather than to be where it should be, starts to migrate. Foci of cells, such endometrium may occur in the fallopian tubes, ovaries, bladder, intestines, kidneys, and lungs.

According to the latest data of medical statistics, endometriosis — One of the most common gynecological diseases. It is in third place, behind only inflammation and uterine fibroids.
