On the Occasion of the resurrection of Christ with Easter arguments addressed to the faithful of the Apostolic visitator for Belarusian Greek Catholic countries father Alexander Knudson.
"Resurrection Day! Prasvetlimsya, people, Today the Lord's Passover, Easter: for, behold from death to life and from earth to heaven, Jesus God raised us pyaem song of victory."
With these words begins Easter hymn (canon) St. John of Damascus.
Easter — a word of Jewish origin. It means liberation from Egypt under Moses's chosen people after the conclusion of four hundred. And this event has become a way that made Jesus Christ, who by his ustannem from the dead freed us from the slavery of death, leading to eternal life with Him.
On actually it was an update of the human race, a new act of creation, as Saint Paul says after: "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, the all-new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Easter — a joyous celebration, but we can not forget that it was ahead of Good Friday, when the Lord Jesus died on the cross. Himself innocent, he gave himself as a sacrifice of atonement for our sins. St. Peter reminds us that we are "redeemed … not in vain, as silver and gold, but the most expensive blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without the vagaries of" (1 Peter 1:18-19).
Jews, faced with the difficulties of life in the desert, where Moses led them, they murmured, "I wish we had died by the hands of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread enough!" (Exodus 16:3). In other words, they were faced with a choice between freedom with all its difficulties and what is commonly referred to as "a glass of vodka and pork rinds." In a similar way, and we now face a choice: to be or not to be us with Christ, who died for us and rose again. St. Paul says: "If we have died with Christ, we believe that together we will live with Him" (Romans 6:8) because "When he died, he died unto sin once, and that He lives, He lives to God. So and you consider yourself dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus "(Romans 6:10-11).
Today Belarusians are going to celebrate Easter in the shadow of the terrible events that recently happened in Minsk. Our thoughts and hearts to the families of the victims and to all those affected. In these tragic circumstances, if we can find a sufficient spiritual strength to — not denying the need to find those responsible for this matter, for which they must be prepared according to the requirements of justice — to give up hatred, and to follow Christ, who prayed on the cross of the who crucified him: "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do"(Luke 23:34)? This would be the first step towards a general reconciliation and spiritual healing.
I would like to end this brief discussion the words Easter services:
"Resurrection Day! Prasvetlimsya celebration and us embrace each other, we say," Brothers "and the fact that they hate us, just for the sake of all of the resurrection, and so exclaim: Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life.
