Flight tests of the light single-engine helicopter pine scheme "Berkut" will begin in April and May 2012, said "AviaPort" General Director of "Berkut" Alilov ARSLANOV.
"Today, the most important thing — to lift the helicopter into the air to see and appreciate the work of all systems, including the work of the power plant," — said the director general.
According to him, the delay in the start of flight testing for several reasons — breaking one of the gears, which should be carried abroad, moving to a new production site and problems with investments.
He noted that the first two helicopters, one of which is a demonstrator, equipped with an engine VAZ, but later constructed two helicopters (№ № 03 and 04) will be equipped with exhaust in the maintenance of engines Lycoming. Helicopters with American engines, starting with the third sample will receive the designation "Berkut VL-M" (upgraded), said A.Arslanov.
According to him, now the design team of the company has developed about 60% of the necessary documentation for the new version of a helicopter engine.
According to the director general, today the firm has received more than 300 requests for helicopter "Berkut", and requests come from both the Russian potential buyers, as well as from overseas. In particular, a very serious proposal was followed by firms and companies in India and China, with the possibility of helicopter production in these countries. There is interest in the helicopter and companies in Canada and South Africa.
A.Arslanov also said that the bank "Berkut" are considering a long-term five-seat helicopter, presumably coaxial. He noted that today the developer believes the best equipped helicopter single piston engine Lycoming 420 hp
"Research conducted by the promising market of light helicopters showed that the prospect of a five-seat light helicopter will be more in demand in the market helicopters than double. However, the start of full-scale design of a five-seater helicopter will only be possible after the completion of the bulk of the work on the two-seat helicopter" Berkut ", — stressed A.Arslanov.
