Locomotives Granit will begin to mass-produce

The second sample freight electric 2ES10 "Granite" spent the train weighing 6.3 tons of Ekaterinburg-sorting station to Pervouralsk.

Electric 2ES10 with asynchronous traction drive produced at LLC "Ural Locomotives" (a joint venture of the Group "Ekaterinburg" and the German company Siemens). As the representatives of the Sverdlovsk road, new electric locomotives no analogues not only in Russia, but on the whole "1520". With the standard weight of the machine parameters will be able to drive a train weighing about 40-50% more than electric locomotives VL11.
"In the test ride confirmed the technical specifications that were laid in the terms of reference. They can significantly improve the efficiency of freight traffic, which means lower operating costs and ultimately tariffs, which are borne by producers and shippers, "- said the senior vice-president of JSC" Russian Railways "Valentine Gapanovich.

The first example of the "Granite" in the beginning of April, has been successfully tested in the All-Russian Research Institute of Railway Transport. Now electric locomotives are coming acceptance and certification tests for compliance with terms of reference and rules of rail safety.

According to the general director of OOO "Ural Locomotives" Alexander Saltaeva, in September of this year, all the tests are complete, the "Granit" will begin to mass-produce, as has already signed a contract with JSC "Russian Railways" to supply up to 221 locomotives in 2016. This year, according to the schedule in November and December, the Sverdlovsk put 11 electric locomotives.

"Today Ural becomes an obstacle to increasing capacity, we have to change here hauling, increased energy consumption. Only by changing the locomotive we win 12 trains. Even on a short section of Yekaterinburg — Pervoural'sk, who passed today, the specifications we have already won one additional "thread", — said the deputy head of the Sverdlovsk Railway Valery Fomin.

JSC "Russian Railways" expects modern electric locomotives will increase productivity and locomotive crews.
"According to this indicator, we are lagging behind the U.S. roads by 18-20%. But the new equipment and technology by 2013-2014 will reach the level of performance of American roads of the first class ", — said Valentin Gapanovich.
