SAINT-PETERSBURG, January 25. Ballet of the Mariinsky Theatre awarded the Association of British critics in the category "Outstanding ballet company." This news came today from London to address one of the oldest musical theaters in the country.
Circle National Dance Award British critics — a prestigious award in the field of choreography. The Review Panel, composed of 60 members evaluated the performances presented in the UK from 1 September 2010 to 31 August 2011.
Last summer, the Mariinsky Ballet held a concert tour, which marked the 50th anniversary of the first arrival of the theater in London. The organizers of the tour were long-time friends and partners of the Mariinsky ballet impresario Lilian and Victor Hohhauzery. At the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden Theatre proposed program consisting of masterpieces of classical choreography by Michel Fokine ballets, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins. The tour took the British premiere of "Anna Karenina" by Alexei Ratmansky.
Critics agreed that the only truly "good dancers are able to breathe new life" into the most rare spectacle, turning it into an unforgettable experience.
In 2002, the Mariinsky Ballet was the first in the history of British critics Circle Award Russian dance company to receive the prestigious award.
