Earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred on Monday in Indonesia, reports the Associated Press referring to the local meteorological agency.
Tremors were felt in the capital, Jakarta. Reports of the destruction and casualties caused by earthquakes have been received.
According to the staff of the Meteorological and Geophysical Agency of Indonesia, the epicenter of the earthquake was 121 km south-west of the coast of West Java Province. Hearth tremors occur at the depth of 21 km.
U.S. Geological Survey, in turn, said that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.9.
In Indonesia is in the so-called "Pacific Ring of Fire" (powerful tectonic fault), characterized by high seismic activity.
