Defense recreates the battle rail missile systems

Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology (developer missile "Bulava", "Topol" and "Yars") began development work on the creation of combat railway missile complexes (BZHRK), said Tuesday the Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov, adding that the cost of the work to create a BZHRK not yet determined.

"Work on BZHRK deployed, conducts the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology. In the initial stage of R &D (development activities) are, as long as it is not a very expensive operation — on the conceptual design, technical projects, "- Borisov said, as quoted byRIA "Novosti".
Soviet BZHRK was withdrawn from service in 2005 in connection with the provisions of the Treaty on Strategic Offensive Reductions Treaty (START), signed in January 1993, the U.S. and Russian presidents George Bush and Boris Yeltsin. New START-3 does not prohibit the creation of new missile systems, including BZHRK.

Valid academic advisor Russian Academy of Engineering Sciences, the Strategic Missile Forces veteran Yuri Zaitsev said earlier that the BZHRKsignificantly strengthen the combat potential Strategic Missile Forces.

He recalled that, for the first time in world practice BZHRK were made in the USSR in the early 80s. According to the plans, BZHRK should form the basis of groups of retaliation — weapons of imminent retaliation. Through an extensive Russian railways they had high survivability and is likely to have to survive after drawing the enemy first strike.

There were deployed three divisions — near Kostroma, Perm and Krasnoyarsk Krai, four regiments each.

According to Zaitsev BZHRK Americans feared even more than the "Satan", and did everything that they were retired SRF. They issued a final judgment agreement on START-2. All the RT-23 UTTH to be destroyed, though the agreement was never ratified.

After the unilateral U.S. withdrawal from the ABM Treaty Moscow declared the irrelevance of this agreement, the destruction of unique strategic weapons, including BZHRK was suspended.
