Earthquake of magnitude 6.6 occurred in the Solomon Islands

Magnitude 6.6 earthquake occurred off the coast on Monday the Solomon Islands, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.

According to seismologists, the epicenter of the earthquake was 75 kilometers from the town of Lata — the provincial capital of Temotu in the southeast of the Solomon Islands archipelago, the main in the Pacific. The epicenter of earthquakes occur at a depth of 39 kilometers.

No injuries, destruction and the threat of a tsunami has been reported.
