MiG-29 performed the first landing on an aircraft carrier Vikramaditya

Since no one wants to write about it, I'll have to … :)

Ship MiG-29KUB on Saturday, July 28, completed the first landing on the deck of a heavy aircraft carrier "Vikramaditya" (formerly "Admiral Gorshkov"). On it informs "Interfax" referring to a source in the military-industrial complex. Landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier fighter crew performed as part of a distinguished test pilot Colonel Nicholas Diorditsa and test pilot Corporation "MiG" Mikhail Belyaev. Earlier fighter made a touch and a run on the deck.

In 2004, Russia and India signed a contract for the modernization of "Admiral Gorshkov". Contract amount of $ 1.5 billion. Under this agreement the Indian side got the ship for free, but are required to pay its modernization and purchase decked MiG-29K/KUB. Later the contract was revised and its amount increased to $ 2.3 billion. The first batch of MiG-29K/KUB was transferred to the Indian Navy in 2011.

At present, "Vikramaditya" is being tested in the Barents Sea. On board the ship is a mixed Russian-Indian crew. The Indian military primarily act as observers.
