Dairies Altai Territory in 2012 issued 214.4 thousand tons of dairy products, which was a record production volume over the past 20 years, said the regional administration, citing the head of management, food processing and pharmaceutical industries in the region Tatiana Zelenin.
In addition, in 2012 the Altai region ranked first in Russia in terms of production of cheese. The share of the Altai cheese is 15.8% of the total production in the Russian Federation (71.6% in the SFD).
"The index of dairy products (milk equivalent) in 2012 was 100.8%. During the entire post-Soviet period in 2012 reached the highest output of dairy products — 214.4 thousand tons," — said Zelenin.
According to her, the volume of fat cheeses reached 67,200 tons, butter — 11.2 thousand tons.
"In terms of production of butter Altai region ranks third in the country and first in the SFO (in January-October). More than 55% of the milk procured by enterprises, is directed to the production of cheese, 21.6% — butter, almost 19% — whole milk products and the rest — for the production of whole milk powder "- said Zelenin.
