Edition of The Washington Free Beacon reported the discovery off the coast of the United States in the Gulf of Mexico Russian nuclear submarine of project «Akula». The submarine, according to the publication, which refers to unnamed sources in the U.S. government agencies, conducted in the Gulf for about a month and was found at a time when she left the area.
Russian submarine was present near the territorial waters of the United States in the period from June to July 2012. The exact dates, as well as the alleged location of the submarine during this period is not specified. According to the paper, the fact that the U.S. Navy could not detect the submarine, causing concern in security circles in the United States.
