Earthquake of magnitude 2.7 occurred on Wednesday, five kilometers north of the town of Artashat Ararat region, the press service of Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic.
According to the report, the tremors occurred in 11.43 local time (same as GMT).
Hypocenter of the earthquake was at a depth of seven kilometers. Force of tremors in the epicenter was 3-4.
According to preliminary data, the tremors were felt in 3 points Artashat, villages and Verin Dvin Aygestan. All these towns are close (about an hour away) from the capital Yerevan.
This is the third earthquake in March in Armenia. In the first half of March, two earthquakes occurred near the village in the north of Ashotsk. Force of tremors in the epicenter was 4-5.
A series of earthquakes was recorded in Armenia in the first half of February. Feb. 7 near the town of Masis (Ararat region), and February 10 near Aparan (Aragatsotn region) were aftershocks of magnitude 2.7 and force 3-4 at the epicenter. February 13 2.4 magnitude earthquake occurred 17 kilometers north-east of the Armenian town of Artashat (Ararat region, near the border with Turkey).
