All nutrients, whether protein, fat, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins that we need for optimal growth and development. Oh, and fat too. All. That's right — even saturated fat … Let's debunk myths about fats and leave in the past, some prejudices that in the long term can lead to metabolic disorders.
We used to believe that fat — is harmful, or at least saturated fats are bad. This is one of the most common misconceptions. Let's see what the saturated fat.
Saturated fats — are fats, the carbon bonds are the most engaged with hydrogen. In a life saturated fats differ from unsaturated that remain solid at room temperature.
Animal products contain saturated fats, such as butter, cheese, white fat on the meat, and others. Some vegetable oils (palm and coconut oil) are also saturated. Now the reputation of coconut oil, lard, and other products with saturated fat permanently damaged. They were branded as the main culprits of heart disease. These fats are considered to be the cause of atherosclerosis and vascular disorders in the brain and heart. But not saturated fats are the cause of these conditions.
Saturated fat — not bad, these fats are essential for the brain. The brain contains a lot of saturated fat and cholesterol are necessary for adequate performance. Even renowned beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, in fact, need to be saturated fats for optimal absorption.
Brain — not the only body that need to be saturated fats. Bones need saturated fats to transport calcium. Animal fat from free-range cows and coconut oil has a natural anti-fungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. You should not turn away from them because of prejudice.
On the other hand, many vegetable oils are not helpful and cause systemic inflammation. Vegetable oils such as soybean, rapeseed, sunflower, corn, usually positioned as a healthy alternative. However, studies suggest otherwise. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated oils contain high levels of omega-6 fatty acids. Their abundance can "add fuel to the fire" inflammatory disorders and chronic pain.
The exceptions are the omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, which do play a key role for health. Whatever it was, joint disease or prevention of myocardial infarction, it has a positive effect. Omega-3 fatty acids found in red fish, olive oil and flaxseed oil.
However it is very hard to get this olive oil, the so-called Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO), that is, pure olive oil first cold pressed. About 70% of olive oil, which is sold throughout the world, it is simply a mixture of oils and other flavor enhancers. They are not only good for health, but even harmful.
If you are concerned about the health of the stomach and intestines, try to choose this olive oil. Many oils become rancid when cooked at high temperatures.
There are also a large number of useful oils, which are poorly known to the general public. Hemp seed oil, avocado oil, pumpkin seed oil, walnuts, almonds, flax seed oil, coconut oil is cheaper, non-GMO, not forged so often and have their own unique healing properties.
Of course, do not forget that all things in moderation, for more than you tell La Strada. Our ancestors did not rush to extremes as we are, but had good health.
