Two earthquakes of magnitude 5.6 and 4.2 occurred in the Pacific Ocean near Sakhalin, said on Wednesday the Far Eastern regional center of Russian Emergencies Ministry.
"The first earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was recorded Tuesday at 14.24 local time (07.24 MSK) to 268 kilometers east of the city Kurilsk Sakhalin region at a depth of 33 kilometers," — said in a statement.
It is noted that the second earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was recorded Tuesday at 15.41 local time (08.41 MSK), 105 kilometers south-west of the village Krabozavodskoe, 114 kilometers south of the city of Yuzhno-Kurilsk Sakhalin region at a depth of 33 kilometers.
"These earthquakes in area settlements were not felt. Victims, destruction, the threat of a tsunami wave is not" — said the MOE.
