MES West Siberia launched shunt reactor at Ugra substation

At 500 kV Ilkovo (Nyaganskaya district Khanty-Mansiysk — Yugra), branch of JSC "FGC UES" — Backbone electric grids (MES) in Western Siberia is included in the work of 500 kV shunt reactor capacity of 180 MVA.

This will solve the problem of voltage regulation for transit of electricity between the Urals and Western Siberia and display equipment planned maintenance without limitation consumers.

"The use of such equipment in substations to efficiently manage network modes, to reduce electricity losses, improve the capacity of the lines and prevent overload. The result is a high reliability of the power system, significant energy savings in transmission ", — Said the head of the substation Ilkovo Sergei Isayev.

Installation of the reactive power compensation is carried out in the framework of the Investment Programme and the reduction of energy losses in the Unified National Power Grid. Since 2006, the service area MES West Siberia has 8 shunt reactors before the end of the year you plan to install another one.

Substation 500 kV Ilkovo 1002 MVA transformer capacity built in the early 1990s. It distributes electricity at 220 kV substations Hora Krasnoleninskiy ILI and Krasnoleninskaya that feed oil and gas production and processing enterprises of JSC "TNK-Nyagan", LLC "Nyagangazpererabotka" (JSC "Sibur") and others.
