President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has sent a number of major Russian businessmen and politicians letter of the Russian-Belarusian gas war. He believes that the conflict are not so much economic as political interests of Russia, which is trying to "build" the Belarusian leadership.
The text of the letter, which quoted the Russian media is identical to the text of the message of the President of Belarus, published by the newspaper "Pravda" on June 28. It Lukashenko accuses Russia of disrupting the gas talks. They say that the purpose of this pressure is obvious: get the Belarusian government "to make concessions to the detriment of the national interest" and get "tidbits of Belarusian property." Lukashenko reiterated that because of the "hostile policy" of Moscow in Belarus "is becoming less of supporters of the deep integration" with Russia. According to Lenta.ru, it is unclear what purpose the Belarusian leader wants to achieve in his letter, because the text does not contain any requests. Commenting on the letter, the deputy of the State Duma and head of the Moscow Institute of CIS Countries Zatulin said that it is not very tactfully by the President of Belarus — Russian businessman writing:
"As a reciprocal gesture, for example, you can write a letter to the leaders of the Belarusian opposition Medvedev explaining why Russia behave towards Belarus and Lukashenko personally. I wonder how it would be perceived Alexander G.! Here we would write a letter Kozulin, Milinkevich and others we want to share with you their attitude to the President Republic of Belarus.
Well, we do not interfere in the internal affairs, but I would like to say a few words impartially. "
Regarding the letter, Mr. Lukashenko Zatulin said that in the public sphere that allowed many are not allowed to the President:
"It's just tactless. But to be honest, tact has never been a strong point of Alexander G.. It has other strengths. He really popular leader, especially the first time of his presidency. Typically, this means that a person loves to despise convention. It's time for him during his tenure as president to meet with presidential responsibilities, not only in terms of guidance, but also limitations. "
The President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin did not comment on treatment of Alexander Lukashenko. The press service of "Basic Element", led by Oleg Deripaska, also said that they have no comment.
The expert of the Russian company RusEnergy Michael Krutikhin notes that by Lukashenko "is a good move, as it can affect the feelings of the public." But will react to it somehow businessmen support the president of Belarus?
"Russian businessmen and politicians, of course, will not respond. After all, is strictly tied to the Russian administration, the government. And no one would dare to say the word in support. And in the West can and listen. "
