With the AFS launched the first two tugs for OMS Shipping

March 28, 2013 in Astrakhan hosted Launching the first two tugs built for the OMS Shipping Ltd. to "Astrakhan Shipbuilding Production Association" (AFS).

 A series of tugs being built with the AFS in the framework of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) to establish a support fleet in the Caspian Sea offshore operations. Of all the stocks of the company will go five ships of this class. Vessel capacity of 880 kWR designed for towing barges displacement of up to 4,000 tons at a speed of up to 5 knots, for the movement of ships in port waters, installations of ships at berth, participate in rescue operations. Intended navigation — the Caspian Sea. Main technical characteristics:

  • length of 24.5 m,
  • total width — 8 m
  • draft — 3.7 m,
  • Total displacement — 260 tons.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of EDB Marat Dzhaukenov and rope Dosmukametov. In 2008, the EDB has signed an agreement with Kazakhstan LLP OMS Shipping line of credit in the amount of 35.6 million U.S. dollars for a period of 10 years. The project involved the acquisition of 16 vessels and specialized fleet support, intended for delivery of rock for the construction of artificial islands in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea. Thus, it is an integral part of the infrastructure to ensure the intensification of work on the development of large hydrocarbon deposits in the Caspian shelf. Currently, 11 vessels already provide services to maritime transport. The project is also present integration effect: in addition to five tugs being built with the AFS, 8 specialized vessels for the transport of rock (barges, platforms and barges pantones) were produced in Russia — the Nevsky Shipyard in Leningrad region and to "Shipbuilding plant "Lotus" in Astrakhan.
