«Lockheed Martin» to develop a 60-kilowatt combat lasers

The company Lockheed Martin received a contract for the design, development, implementation and tests with the next delivery of the U.S. Army 60-kW high-spectral optical fiber laser, reports fool.com March 1.

Laser system HEL MD (High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator, shows the layout of Boeing — approx. «VP») is designed to be installed on self-propelled mc with the possibility of shooting round (360 degrees) and must destroy incoming missiles, shells, mines and unmanned aerial vehicles, also be used to blow up unexploded ordnance, including IEDs — improvised explosive devices.

Supply layout scheduled for December 27, 2017, after this technological demonstrator will be tested at different sites.
