Bronislaw Komorowski was elected president of Poland — these are preliminary results of the II round of voting in the elections of the Polish state.


"Bronislaw! Bronislaw!"

So at the headquarters Bronislaw Komorowski welcomed the first, preliminary results of the vote — 52 to 53% of the vote — a few percent more than in Jaroslaw Kaczynski.

"I appeal to all those who did not win, which he had expected. I'm telling you — go together in the name of a higher purpose — Poland! Accord builds, and Poland — the most important thing", — Bronislaw Komorowski called for unity by repeating the end of the campaign slogan of Jaroslaw Kaczynski.

Kaczynski, in turn, congratulated his rival on his victory, noting that the opposition party "Law and Justice" should be prepared for the next election campaign:

"I thank you and look forward to one thing: When will the next campaign, and it will be even more this year, you will be close. Important fact of all, and above all — Poland is most important. Thank you!"

Bronislaw Komorowski has 58 years. In Poland, he was an active member of the democratic opposition during the martial law — interned. In a free Poland was a member of Parliament, Deputy Minister of Defense, and after the victory of his party "Civic Platform" in the elections — the speaker of the Seimas, the lower house of the Polish parliament.

Bronislaw Komorowski's victory means Now that "Civic Platform" has not only a majority in parliament in a coalition with the Peasants' Party, his government, led by party leader Donald Tusk, but also the president.
