20 journalists were warned by prosecutors

The situation in the media space of Belarus on the eve of the presidential election campaign is discussed at the round table, which takes place in Minsk hotel "Europe".

Organized by the analytical center "Strategy" and the National Committee of the United Democratic Forces.

Opening the round table, the chairman of the National Committee of the United Democratic Forces Anatoly Lebedko noted that the interest in this topic showed three groups — politicians, journalists and human rights activists. The main purpose of the discussion — "time between the joint action plan to the media space of Belarus has not decreased even further, not cringe."

Chairman of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Jeanne Litvin spoke about the role of the media during election campaigns, journalist Alexander Koktyish from my own experience told about the ethics of interaction between journalists and politicians, and political scientist Alexander Klaskouski spoke about the role of online media in election campaigns.

Zh.Litvina told about the situation in the media. She noted that the state distribution of emitted private editions, attempts to register the new independent media politically active persons are not successful, and last year 20 journalists were warned by the prosecutor's office to work for foreign media without accreditation.

Recall that a few days ago, the head of the U.S. Mission to the OSCE Ian Kelly made a statement about human rights violations in Belarus, the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna.

In a statement, among other things, states that "the United States notes with serious concern that the continued pressure and intimidation aimed at the independent media and the political opposition in Belarus."
