Belarus runs from gas dependence in Lithuania


Belarus has started preparations to build LNG terminal in Lithuania. This is with reference to the Council of Ministers Office BelTA informs.

In this connection, set up the Belarusian part of the intergovernmental working group, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko. His deputies — Deputy Secretary of Energy Edward Tovpenets and the Deputy Chairman of the concern "Belneftekhim" Vladimir Volkov. The group includes representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Transport, "Beltransgaz", "Belarusian Oil Company".

Prior to November 1 2010 working group is to bring proposals to the management of Belarus concerning the possibility of building a liquefied natural gas terminal in Lithuania for the continued supply of gas through the Lithuanian territory of Belarus. It is also necessary to prepare proposals for the supply of oil by sea via Lithuanian terminals.

June 30 Vladimir Semashko announced the government's plans for the first time about the likelihood of construction of the plant in the production of liquefied gas. The cost of such gas at Semashko substantially lower than the natural, which is now Belarus fully buys from Russia.
