In 1816, the birth of a man whose name we hear several times a day, but very little of what we know. It Pol Reutter, the founder of the largest modern English news agency Royterz. He was born in Germany, to a Jewish family, and his original name was Israel Beer Jehoshaphat. He started his career as a bank employee, after baptism, changed his name and got married. He worked as a translator in Paris, and then moved to London, and there he built one of the world's first news agency. For it in Germany, he was awarded the title of baron, and he became known as von Reutter (d. 1899).
In 1899 born American writer Ernest Hemingway (d. 1961), winner of the Nobel Prize in 1954.
In 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong as the first Earthman set foot on the moon. Armstrong, along with astronauts Michael Collins and Edwin Aldrin, landed karablz "APAL-11" on the moon one day earlier, July 20, 1969.
