TSAMTO, April 11. The exhibition LAAD-2013, which continues its work in Rio de Janeiro, TSAMTO publishes a list of Latin America on the actual import of air defense for an 8-year period (2005-2012.).
The calculation was performed on the 7 «enlarged» weapons categories: armor, military aircraft and UAVs, rotorcraft, naval equipment, missile and artillery weapons, air defense, and the category of «other weapons» (as of early January 2013).
The category included air defense anti-aircraft missile systems (complexes) of large, medium and small range, MANPADS and Zaw.
This calculation includes countries that according to standard procedures TSAMTO forms the two regions.
This South American countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico also (of 13 states) and the countries of Central America and the Caribbean: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Cuba, Nicaragua, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, El Salvador, Jamaica (all 15 states).
In general, this calculation takes into account the data for 28 countries.
Category anti-aircraft Missiles over the period, 2005-2012. by value of arms imports of Latin American in sixth place — 1.293 billion dollars (5.27%), in 2012 — 5th place with a volume of 723 million dollars (11.35%).
In the value of imports introduced new air defense systems, and imports from the Armed Forces of exporting countries, licensed applets, repair and modernization.
First place on the import anti-missile weapons in Latin America over the period 2005-2012. with a volume of 1.1 billion dollars (85% of total imports by category air defense of the region) takes Venezuela. By Venezuela, as in other countries, is considered the value of imports identified only ordinary weapons.
Second place on the import of anti-missile weapons in Latin America over the period 2005-2012. with a volume of 113.3 million dollars (8.76% of total imports in this category of countries in the region) took Chile. Closes the top three favorites Peru — 60.5 million dollars (4.7%).
As in 2005-2012. imports in this category performed as Brazil (20 million dollars).
By the end of 2012 first place in the ranking of importers categories anti-missile weapons in Latin America takes Venezuela — 589.4 million dollars (81.55% of the total import volume of the region of Latin America in 2012 under this category). Second place in terms of imports of defense in 2012 ranked Chile — 83.3 million dollars (11.5%). Closes the top three favorites of Peru — $ 50 million (6.9%).
