Russian scientist believes that the Earth originally had a different form of life

Data recently obtained from the satellite of Saturn, support the hypothesis that the Earth once existed some form of life — based on hydrogen and metal compounds. So says the director of the Geological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Mikhail Fedonkin.
Before the Earth was formed in its present form, says the author of the hypothesis, our planet represented a cosmic body, which was dominated by very different environmental conditions. "Primary ocean — it was not the water, — he says. — It was Wednesday hot, oxygen-free, hydrogen, and it was dissolved metals."
A similar situation exists on Titan, a moon of Saturn, he said. It is a planet with a diameter of 5152 km larger than Mercury and the moon twice. And therefore has and atmosphere. True, it consists of nitrogen, methane, hydrogen and rare gases. But everything else — just like on Earth, floating clouds, visible haze, rains of liquid methane. And on the surface, respectively, there are rivers and lakes, which, according to the conclusions of the researchers, may be up to 1 km depth.
Data obtained from there through the work of the American satellite "Cassini", in the past year, experts of the U.S. National Space Agency (NASA) called sensational, attesting to the existence of life. "We believe that being in the atmosphere of Titan biological forms hydrogen is used in the same way as on Earth living organisms breathe oxygen," — said one of the researchers, Chris McKay. He did not rule out that this is a completely new form of biological life, completely different from the Earth.
U.S. researchers reasoned as follows. On the surface not found any traces of acetylene, even though ultraviolet sunlight should constantly make it into the atmosphere of substances available there. Therefore something destroys these substances. And because of this "something" science does not know, there is one conclusion: it is not "something" and "someone." Specifically, the organisms that produce methane, hydrogen-breathing and eating acetylene. It is the presence of this kind of bacteria and helps to explain illogical phenomena in the atmosphere of Saturn's moon.
According to the academician Fedonkin and present earthly creatures show signs of that, the old forms of life that may now exist on Titan. So far, the enzymes present in large biological structures are the very metal-containing clusters. Molecular hydrogen as an energy source used by many groups of single-celled organisms. Metabolism based on hydrogen dominates among microorganisms that inhabit hot springs. The very emergence and development of current, carbon forms of life on earth is, according to the hypothesis, the scientist, the result of the same, "hydrogen".
Then existing organisms, like those on Titan, gradually seized hydrogen, causing the reaction, during which he turned to water, and metal compounds — in the industry: "In this environment, and there were organisms," fuel "which served as protons and electrons, derived from hydrogen. A catalyst for supply with the corresponding chemical reactions are compounds with metals, including heavy. "
Using them to supply hydrogen, the then biological forms naturally transformed the environment, and themselves, in turn, have adapted to the changes, which themselves had caused "huge deposits of iron, magnesium, uranium, gold, copper, nickel and other metals "confined" to the deposits of the Archean and Proterozoic — that is, precisely those times when the first living cell mass "eat away" from the corresponding compounds of hydrogen, — says academician Fedonkin. — A self becoming today's complex cells can be viewed as a process of response to changes in geochemistry the biosphere. "
Thus, a closer look at Titan, we have not ruled out, look at the past and the earliest life on earth. However, it should be noted that, at least with regard to the hypothesis that life on Titan, many Russian scientists are skeptical. "We really see on Titan is very complex organic chemistry, — agreed Alexander Rodin, Associate MIPT and a senior fellow of the Institute of Space Research, Alexander Rodin, one of our scientists, closely involved in the research of Titan. — There's a lot of hydrocarbons. But unambiguous data that showed to the presence of life, we do not get. And what we know about the conditions on Titan, said, rather, against the existence of life there. "
First of all, in the world there is no liquid water, a scientist substantiated this view. The temperature there is 90 degrees Kelvin (- 183 Celsius), ie almost the temperature of liquid nitrogen. Methane and nitrogen in the atmosphere form a complex chain of organic matter, but the "conditions for life, to put it mildly, not comfortable," — said Rodin. "The atmosphere is packed with organic compounds — he admitted — and they form a sort of smog. This is a complex organics, but abiotic, ie non-living." Therefore, the researcher believes, the most that can be seen on Titan — the synthesis of complex hydrocarbons, but not life, ITAR-TASS reported.
