Environmental Film Festival H2O, organized by the United Nations Development Programme United Nations, opens Friday in Sochi, said the Department of Education and Science of the resort.
Film Festival is dedicated to the Day of the Black Sea, which has become traditional for the residents and visitors alike. This year the main theme of the festival H2O sets of the UN International Year of Sustainable Energy for All.
"I hope that the documentary, addressed the theme of human impact on the environment, as part of Festival H2O will satisfy the audience and made us think about a more rational and sustainable use of natural resources, the conservation of natural resources, cause active desire to contribute to improving the world around us" — quoted in the message words of the Deputy Mayor of Sochi Irina Romanet.
Within three days of the cinema "Sochi" will take impressions of bright documentaries about finding an alternative fuel, the "natural" cost of power, the role of cars in people's lives, as well as a beautiful film about climate change, National Geographic photographer shot and won the prize for Best Cinematography at the "Sundance". All films festival H2O were awarded prizes at major international film festivals.
On the opening day film festival audiences will welcome representatives of the state and public organizations, and then will join the festival with a festive program of the International Day of the Black Sea, which will be held on Saturday.
Also host a round table discussion on the development of an environmental culture, with representatives of the city administration, community organizations and the business community, UNDP, and the well-known bloggers.
