In Gomel detained pro-democracy activists

In the center of Gomel detained activists who were handing out greeting cards on behalf of the Coordinating Council of the United Democratic Forces of the Gomel region on the occasion of Independence Day on July 27.

Among those detained Vasily Polyakov, Yuri Glushakov, Larissa Schiryakova. They are in the area of the Central District of Gomel.

Before the rally was also detained activist Vladimir Nepomnyashchii due to the fact that his shirt was written: "For Belarus without Lukashenka! Enough! Tired!"

"After about 15 minutes we were approached by plain-clothes. They said that we are distributing leaflets, which contains information antypalitychnaya" — told Vasily Polyakov.

In the card said that "July 27, 1990 in Minsk, adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus. This document is the first formal step toward independence of Belarus. It is with of the day marked the beginning of a new history of our country. The problem of the independence of Belarus is directly linked to democracy, freedom and the well-being of each individual. The independence of our country — this is one of the main factors and the guarantee of building a free and democratic society. The logic of events and common sense suggest that freedom would return to Belarus, and the independence of the country would be enormous value of the Belarusian people. "
