NLMK buys new equipment for energy production

NLMK has concluded contracts for the supply of new equipment for energy production at the main site in Lipetsk, totaling more than 2.1 billion rubles.

The contract with JSC "ESC" Union "(Russia) includes delivery from March 2012 to September 2012 equipment of a steam turbine generator with a capacity of 50 MW district heating selection for the current CHP. Its launch in 2013 after the withdrawal of obsolete unit (1956) will provide a reliable supply of electricity and workshops will keep the level of its own electricity production at the plant.

The contract with "Krioimpeks" (Russia) includes delivery from February 2012 to March 2013 and installation of two air separation units (ASU) with a capacity 34,000 m³ / h of oxygen for each phased replacement of worn-out facilities. Start new parliament is scheduled for mid-2013 and early 2014. The project will ensure a steady supply of metallurgical products division of air (oxygen and nitrogen) is carried out taking into account the company plans to increase steel production in the second stage of the program of modernization.

For the record:
Energy production at NLMK's Lipetsk site provides 46% of its own electrical power plant and is fully air separation products (oxygen, nitrogen, argon). Currently, the second phase of the Technical Upgrading Program is building a new combined heat and power capacity of 150 MW. This project will enhance the safe disposal of metallurgical gases.
