Our fuel supplies for the fast reactors Russia will last for hundreds of years

Existing stocks of uranium-238, which forms the basis of nuclear fuel for fast reactors, enough nuclear power Russia for hundreds of years, said general director of the State Corporation "Rosatom" Sergey Kiriyenko.
Modern reactors are thermal or slow neutrons are working on enriched uranium-235, the share of which in natural uranium is 0.7%. "Fast" reactors can operate on uranium-238 (uranium in its nearly 99.3%), which allows the use of this going to the dumps of the isotope uranium for reactor fuel.
"Even those dumps that we have to have our own plants, lacking. Margin on fuel starts to be measured by centuries during the transition to a quick energy, even with today produced (uranium)," — Kiriyenko said at a meeting of the Presidium of the Presidential Council.
In Russia almost 30 years in trial NPP units with a fast neutron reactor BN-600 at Kola nuclear power plant (BNPP Zarechnyj city of Sverdlovsk Region). Currently under construction is a unit with a fast neutron reactor BN-800.
