Sinusitis

Sinusitis.

Severe headache, nasal congestion, runny nose — these symptoms may indicate the development of sinusitis, that is inflammation of one of the paranasal sinuses. Very often disease arises because of the cold (SARS, influenza) or childhood diseases (measles, scarlet fever, etc.).

Depending on what sinus amazed distinguished:

  • sinusitis — inflammation mucosa of the maxillary (maxillary) sinuses
  • Front — inflammation the frontal sinus,
  • ethmoiditis — inflammation ethmoidal labyrinth,
  • sphenoiditis — inflammation sphenoid sinus.

Disease may be unilateral or bilateral, with involvement in the process of a sinus or defeat of all paranasal sinuses on one or both sides — the so-called pansinusitis.

If you suspect a sinus infection as early as possible consult an audiologist. To confirm the diagnosis is usually given X-ray of the sinuses. Treatment often, conservative (antipyretics, antibiotics, dropsnose), But sometimes you have to resort to sinus puncture and washing it with a solution of antiseptic agents. If untreated, can cause serious complications (abscesses, meningitis), and develop a chronic form of the disease.
