Russia calls for the development of a roadmap agreement on climate

The Russian Federation considers necessary for the UN climate talks "road map" to develop a new global climate agreement, said presidential advisor, the special representative on climate Alexander Bedritsky.

The decision to begin development of a new global agreement, which should replace the Kyoto Protocol after 2020, adopted at the UN conference in Durban (South Africa) at the end of 2011. Prepare the text of the agreement is expected by the end of 2015.

"To be effective in this regard, the Doha necessary to define a common vision of the new agreement and to its development road map" — Bedritsky said, speaking at a conference in Doha.

He also stressed that the conference should complete the "long-term" workflow in the two negotiating groups — the Kyoto Protocol and long term cooperation. Both groups were created in 2007, after which their work has been repeatedly extended. To conclude their work was made at the negotiations in 2011 in South Africa.

At present, the capital of Qatar, is the UN conference on climate change. The main themes of a two-week talks, which began on 26 November, will be the conditions of the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol and its mechanisms for raising funds in the Green Climate Fund.
