Forecasters have declared a storm warning due to expected in the next two days in the southern regions of Western Siberia snowfalls and blizzards, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday, Press Secretary of the Novosibirsk Hydrometeorological Renaud Yagudin.
"In the next two days in Tomsk, Kemerovo and Novosibirsk regions and the Altai range of expected severe weather phenomena associated with snowfalls and blizzards. Wind speed will reach 18-22 meters per second, and the Altai — up to 27 meters per second," — said.
He noted that the snowfall, accompanied by strong winds, may adversely affect the operation of transport, energy, as warned by the regional authorities.
Yagudin also noted that the last ten days of January in the southern regions of Western Siberia will become abnormally warm for this time; average daily temperature exceeds the norm by 5-7 degrees.
"The average temperature in the Novosibirsk region is expected to range from minus 9 to minus 14 degrees, which is well above the norm. Daytime temperatures range from minus 1 to minus 7 degrees. On Altai air warms up to zero degrees," — said the forecaster.
