New blood center opens in Moscow on the basis of the First Medical University

With the latest equipment specialists will not only large-scale blood bank and its components up to 10 tons per year, which roughly corresponds to the needs of the metropolitan hospitals, but also will conduct basic research.

The device is not just pumping blood into a plastic bag — inside the complex mechanisms that divide the blood into fractions, getting out of it only the programmed components. For example, there is a surrender of platelets — proteins involved in blood clotting. All other components of the machine re-mixes and return to the owner. And the level of protein in the blood is restored within a day.

There are several halls of blood donation. Each can receive at the same time for five or six donors. The center will not only provide blood and blood components of the First Clinical Hospital of honey, but also send them to other hospitals of Moscow. Today, donors wanted to be here two dozen people.

"Students come in the form of shares to donate blood, there were university staff, doctors, nurses. But the best part — the students of 4th, 5th, 6th, courses," — said the head of the Blood Center of the 1st Moscow State Medical University Aliheydar Rahimov.

The new institution is different from the usual blood transfusion stations that will conduct scientific work. At its base is created so-called Center for collective use. Researchers from the Medical University will have access to all the technologies and capabilities that are available here. Moreover, the results of scientific research will be immediately included in textbooks for students.

"According to the World Society for Transfusion in December 2011, 62 countries with developed economies and healthcare systems have completely switched to a voluntary non-remunerated donation, — said the Minister of Health Veronika Skvortsova.

Two weeks ago, these countries joined Russia. For donated blood, now do not pay. The number of donors has decreased, but his plan to restore the health facilities due to active campaigning.

Meanwhile, to make the transition less painful regions themselves are looking for opportunities to attract donors.

A Moscow city government said it will save money in the capital surcharges for donating blood. And remains until the payment for rare blood groups. All this for the first time does not face shortage.
