A new kind of tuberculosis in Europe

BBC Russian Service reported that the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned Europe of a new species of tuberculosis, which began to spread. Strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis resistant to antibiotics, so in Europe no one is safe from TB to 100%.

According to WHO, the European record over 80,000 new cases annually. At risk are the Eastern European countries — Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. In Western Europe the leader in the number of reported cases of tuberculosis is London. Every year in the UK capital tubercle bacillus affects more than 3500 people.

World Health Organization developed a plan to fight TB. It includes measures affecting early diagnosis. In addition, treatment of tuberculosis should be more accessible. WHO experts have estimated that the authorities on their plans to maintain the lives of more than 120 thousands of Europeans in 2015.
