DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING OF FRENCH KR MDCN underway
General Directorate for Armaments DGA (Direcao Geral de Armamento) French Ministry of Defense, which is held the first launch of a cruise missile MdCN (missile de croisiere naval) for this purpose. The test was conducted on a terrain polygon Biscarrosse with ground launcher vertical run, simulating the ship installed on multipurpose frigates European FREMM.
 
During the tests were checked, namely, systems such as the starter and infrared definition images. It was found out that the infrared guidance system allows the missile with high accuracy to hit a given target.
 
KR MdCN (another designation Scalp naval — «Marine head») is designed to engage targets located deep in enemy terrain, particularly infrastructure of strategic importance. Missile entered service frigates FREMM 2014, Barracuda submarines will be equipped with the type of these KR, possibly in 2017.
 
KR weight is 1400 kg, length 6.5 m, width 0.85 m Hull, wingspan 2.85 m missile armed with micro-turbofan has a subsonic flight range missiles is about 1000 km.
