An earthquake measuring 6.1 occurred today at 19:25 local time / 14:25 MSK / in southern of the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. The National Meteorological Administration announced the tsunami threat, but a few minutes later withdrew the warning.
The epicenter was located near the south-eastern coast of the island, its center lies at a depth of 30 kilometers. Tremors felt residents of Hokkaido and Aomori Prefecture, located in the northern part of the island of Honshu.
These injuries were reported, but the TV NBC NHK / NHK / announced the possible destruction of the coastal zone.
