The water level in the flooded areas of Thailand will subside within two weeks. This was announced today at the Association of Tour Operators of Russia / ATOP / referring to the authorities of the Kingdom.
Tour operators stressed that before the Christmas holidays all the flooded roads will be open, along with shopping malls and main tourist attractions of Bangkok, in particular, in the near future for tourists opens Temple of the Emerald Buddha in the Thai capital.
According to representatives of the tourism industry, the main tourist destination — Phuket, Pattaya, Koh Samui — not affected by the flood, no danger to tourists who are on popular islands, not threatened.
However, as highlighted in the association, "in spite of the stabilization of the situation in Bangkok, the flow rate of Russians in Thailand still does not match last year, and even more so — the declared level of transportation." In particular, according to tour operators, the number of Russian citizens who choose Thailand as their place of Holiday in October this year, has made nearly 60 thousand people, which is 4.5 percent less than in the same month in 2010.
The specialists ATOP believe that the decrease in the flow of Russians in Thailand can be attributed not only to their concerns about flooding in the country, but also to the fact that pre-New Year period is traditionally accompanied by a certain downturn tourists.
The association also added that "in spite of the abundance of New Year" hot rounds "in this area, prices for holidays peak dates are kept at a high level."
As a result of tropical storm Nock-Ten, which struck Thailand on July 5 and the resulting floods, killing 616 people. Natural disasters have affected 63 provinces, affecting over 11 million people, about one million seek medical attention. At the moment the water is still in the 15 provinces of the country.
