European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek urged Belarusian authorities hold a "full and transparent" investigation into the death of Belarusian journalist Oleg Bebenina.
"I am deeply shocked by this tragic event in Belarus," — said in a statement, which appeared on the official website of the European Parliament. According to Jerzy Buzek, Oleg Bebenin his work for the site of the "Charter 97", "worked on the creation of a more democratic Belarus."
Body Oleg Bebenina was found in his summer cottage in the village Perkhurovo Dzerzhinsky district on September 3 in the evening. The examination showed that he died as a result of strangulation. The police have already made a preliminary finding of suicide, what is questioned by his colleagues.
A memorial service will be held on Oleg Bebenina September 6 from 14 to 15 hours in Minsk in the Hall of funeral services outside Olszewski, 12. The funeral will take place on September 6 in the East (Moscow) cemetery of the capital.
