Seismologists on Thursday recorded an earthquake in the southern Kurils, reports GUMCHS Sakhalin Oblast.
"An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 recorded at 08:35 am Sakhalin time (01.35 MSK). Coordinates quake — 42.9 north latitude, 145.7 east longitude (127 kilometers south of the village of South Kuril)," — said in a statement.
It also noted that the strength of tremor was up 3 points, the earthquake was felt on Shikotan (in villages and Krabozavodskoe Malokurilskoye) and Kunashir Island (in the town of Yuzhno-Kurilsk). No tsunami threat.
