Islands in the Caribbean affected by flooding

Heavy rain and storms swept over the Caribbean from Fr. Hispaniola (the island of Haiti) and Fr. Cube to the Bahamas and southern Florida. Unstable wet weather delayed in the region over the weekend. Perhaps the precipitation will fall, and the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula.

Rain fell for Haiti were fatal. Because of the resulting landslides and floods in the south and west of the island killed at least nine people. Among them are a child of six and a resident of the capital, Port-au-Prince. Almost all of them were drowned in the swollen river. After heavy rains that occurred two weeks ago in Haiti killed six people and at least 700 were evicted from the area of the dial and the Enns-a-Fleur.

The area of rainfall over the Caribbean in the next few days will extend to the north-west.

In a difficult situation there are still about 500,000 people about. Haiti, which has never fully recover from the 2010 earthquake and rebuilt their homes. In the neighboring Dominican Republic, a natural disaster has forced 11,500 people to evacuate, of deaths and injuries to report.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic, on the coast of the northern part of one of its provinces of Puerto Plata and in some southern and central cities of about 3 million homes washed away from spilled rivers and streams. Total flood threat looms over by 23 of the 32 provinces of the Dominican.
