New Ambassador of Estonia to Belarus finished BSU

Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves in the evening on August 30 signed a decree to appoint an ambassador to Belarus Jaak Lensmenta, BelaPAN learned from the office of the head of the Estonian state.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Jaak Lensment was born in 1966. He graduated from the Belarusian State University, "Philosophy." On the diplomatic service in 1993. Over the years, he held positions in the diplomatic missions of Estonia in Kiev, Moscow, The Hague, Vienna. Lensment is married and has a grown daughter. He speaks Russian, German and English.

Lensment become the first Estonian ambassador, who will reside in the territory of Belarus. To still the head of the diplomatic mission visited the country from time to time.

Estonian Embassy in Minsk, opened in September 2009and previously led the charge d'Harri Lahtejn. A week before the end of its mandate on 24 August, he resigned amid allegations of sexual harassment. In an email sent to foreign diplomats, Estonia, Lahtejn said the scandal erupted around him, is a provocation directed against him, which could be seen as an attack on the entire Estonian diplomatic corps.
