Syria on the brink of starvation due to drought

The population of the Middle Eastern states Syria suffers terrible hardships associated with the military conflict in the region and established dry weather. UN aid office has sent hundreds of thousands of Syrians its humanitarian aid in the form of food.

Up to December 2012 at the request of the organization "Red Crescent" in the country planned to deliver food to 250,000 drought-affected people and the war. At the moment, the monthly assistance received about 100,000 Syrians. Gradually the number of people receiving direct assistance, to increase to 500,000.

Which began in March 2011, the military conflict, which claimed the lives of more than 9,000 civilians and forced dozens of thousands of people to flee from their native country, compounded by drought, which in many areas is from Syria in 2006. As a result of 1.3-1.4 million Syrians are not able to farm in a familiar environment and feed their families. Herders have lost up to 80% of livestock due to dry pastures and lack of water.
