5.6 Earthquake in Pakistan


NEW DELHI, March 21 — RIA Novosti, Evgeny Pakhomov. Tremors of magnitude 5.6 occurred on Monday in northern Pakistan, DawnNews TV channel reported with reference to the country's Meteorological Department.

The earthquake was felt in the cities of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Sargodha, a number of others as well as in the capital, Islamabad.

According to media reports, tremors caused panic in some parts of the country. Many people, especially in mountain regions, have fled their homes for fear of aftershocks.

The epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range. No casualties or destruction have been reported yet.
