MOSCOW, November 9. / ITAR-TASS /. Climate scientists from 33 countries urged humanity to begin seriously to adapt to the already inevitable changes of the global climate. This is the main result of the international scientific conference "Problems of adaptation to climate change", which ended yesterday at the World Trade Center in Moscow.
"The conference was interesting variance of opinion, diversity, — summed up the scientific forum in an interview with Trend. ITAR-TASS Russian head of Hydromet Alexander Frolov. — But in many areas of agreement and especially in the need to develop strategies to adapt to climate change at national levels. Today, in some countries, this strategy is, but many — this issue is not even on the political agenda. And some, who do not even understand the dangers that they face due to climate change. "
Meanwhile, such a strategy should be established precisely at national levels, said Alexander Frolov, because in general climate of our planet — the only proven tendency to change it, to be exact — to global warming. And here is what they can bring — if not an individual problem for each state, then certainly regional. At one point, for example, global warming will lead to droughts in the other — to waterlogging. "General, there is no universal solution, but because it is so important to the scientific community deeply engaged in these topics, coming to a mutually acceptable opinion," — said the head of Hydromet. But the approach has to be a system, or rather, the ecosystem, he added. "The value of any economic projects should include the environmental component," — said Frolov.
Solutions Conference will be presented to the Intergovernmental Group of Experts, and in addition, at the forthcoming meeting of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in late November or early December in Durban / South Africa /.
According to the organizers, the forum climatologists in Moscow were more than 600 people from 33 countries.
