Despite global warming, in the mountains of Turkey and Lebanon skiing

In light of recent warm winters skiing in Turkey and Lebanon did not expect to see more white landscape on the slopes.

However, nature has been less radical than think about it. In late winter, the mountains of Lebanon and Turkey once again attracted the eyes of snow caps. This photo was taken March 17, 2011 Spectroradiometer MODIS on board the satellite Terra.

Both countries are located in the subtropics, where the winter — specific. Moderate Mediterranean climate defines cool and sometimes rainy winters on the coast, but in the mountains the temperature usually falls below zero, there are heavy snowfalls. The snow cover lasts a few weeks, allowing Lebanon to have six, Turkey — more than a dozen ski resorts.
