Earthquake of magnitude 6.5 occurred in the south-eastern Mexico

A strong earthquake occurred on Thursday in the state of Veracruz in the southeast of Mexico, the tremors were felt clearly in the capital, Mexico City, according to the Associated Press.

Tremors of magnitude 6.5 was recorded in 08.11 local time (17.11 MSK). According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 91 km south of the town of Coatzacoalcos. Hearth lies at a depth 167.4 km.

Tremors were also clearly felt in the state of Chiapas on the border with Guatemala.

No casualties and extent of damage were reported. No tsunami threat.
