At least 23 people were killed in floods and mudslides caused by the southern part of Haiti, heavy rains, said on Wednesday night by the Associated Press.
The rains in the capital — the city of Port-au-Prince, have been going on for over a week. The banks went out most of the rivers of the island state, city streets are filled with debris and fallen trees, the report says.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Civil Protection, Joseph Edgar (Edgar Joseph), during natural disasters injured dozens of people.
The situation is also aggravated by the fact that tens of thousands of people still live in temporary camps after a powerful earthquake in January 2010. In addition, wet weather may cause a new wave of cholera, from which the country has already died more than 5.3 thousand people since last October.
