Flooding in Sri Lanka

08.01.11. Colombo. The flood in the eastern part of the island of Sri Lanka affected 588 thousand people, about five thousand inhabitants of the island were evacuated from disaster areas to temporary rescue camp.

The authorities have organized 18 such camps. Victims of disasters have 3 people. Flooding began on the island because of continued for two weeks of showers, reports Xinhua.

Bad weather complicated the movement on the island. The roads tightened fog, authorities warned of the high probability of landslides. At the same time, meteorologists predict a further increase rainfall in the northern and eastern provinces of the island.
