According to the Australian Seismological Service, its epicenter was in the Pacific Ocean, 299 km east of the state capital — Suva, the focus lies at a depth of 600 km. Tremors were felt in a radius of 206 km. No injuries or damage were reported, according to ITAR-TASS.
At 332 Fiji islands, of which only 110 are inhabited, earthquakes and eruptions of underwater volcanoes occur frequently. Archipelago in the Pacific Ocean is part of the so-called Ring of Fire, which is concentrated three-quarters of the active volcanoes in the world, including underwater.
